Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) is an independent and ecumenical organization working for people’s fundamental rights and based on God’s love for all humans. Norwegian Church Aid works in a comprehensive way, through ecclesiastical and other local organizations in order to save and protect lives and develop sustainable living conditions. Norwegian Church Aid also works to influence attitudes and decisions for the benefit of the poor, needy and oppressed – regardless of gender, political conviction, religion and ethnicity.
NCA has been involved with the issue of third world debt since the late 1980s. Since then we have been active in campaigns and advocacy for debt cancellation, as well as challenging Norwegian policies and positions in the World Bank and the IMF. After 2000 we have increasingly emphasized the issue of illegitimate debt through campaigns, research and advocacy.
