WHERE:
Place Bataillon du Pacifique, Paris
WHAT: Media stunt; comments and photo opportunities
On Friday 17 June activists from France and international debt organisations gather in front of the Paris Club – an informal group of lender country representatives – to remind its members of the past 55 years of failed debt management.
Banners with the campaign slogan “Defuse the Debt Crisis” and a motive of an exploding bomb, air balloons, an Eiffel tower symbolically seized by the creditors and a mock “congratulation” birthday cake will make the scene. Participants will hold a speech criticising the methods of the Paris Club and hand over a statement asking representatives of the G20 to support a fair and transparent debt court instead.
The action is organized by the international civil society campaign “Defuse the Debt Crisis”.
All those who happen to be in Paris that day are invited to join us in this effort!
